heath conditions: narcolepsy without cataplexy- a more mild form of the condition that still has a large impact on her daily life. luka experiences excessive daytime sleepiness and is prone to falling asleep often during the day. though she doesn't experience cataleptic symptoms, she does often experience sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinations when falling asleep. though her condition leaves her feeling tired most of the time, she puts in a great deal of effort to appear unaffected, but even so her narcolepsy does affect her attention and work performance and she struggles to hold down typical shift work as a result.

CHILDHOOD-16: as a child luka is TOMBOYISH and incredibly active. her father, a powerful burst warrior in their community, grooms her from childhood to become a burst warrior, which she happily goes along with. she earns her first burst heart (musharna) at fourteen and quickly rises through the ranks of the junior division, earning prize money and a rare second burst heart (milotic). she is TALENTED,POWERFUL and extremely CONFIDENT in her abilities. her father helps to fight against the GREAT GAVEL organization at home, protecting their town as well as many of the surrounding ones, and makes a fair amount of enemies before the organization’s eventual downfall. he gives luka a burst heart taken from a great gavel official, a mawile. luka advances from the junior to senior division of burst battling, one of the youngest to move up so quickly, but remains HUMBLE and KINDHEARTED. she aspires to be just as talented a burst warrior as her father.

AGE 16: luka stumbles across a fight between her father and a former great gavel member. HER FATHER IS KILLED IN THE BATTLE AND SHE ACCIDENTALLY KILLS HIS MURDERER IN SELF-DEFENSE. she faces no charges due to the nature of the altercation and the desire of the burst warrior community to keep things covered up, but is plagued by overwhelming guilt and grief. she is no longer proud of her abilities but is ASHAMED and FEARFUL of them and refuses to burst with her pokemon for several months. her best friend manages to convince her to burst again eventually, but she’s so terrified of hurting anyone again that her battling suffers. she inherits her father’s BLAZIKEN burst heart but can’t bring herself to use it.

AGE 17-19: luka’s confidence in her burst battling has suffered greatly, but she continues with it because she believes it’s what her father would have wanted. friends and family note that she’s far more RESERVED than before, and she’s become more OVERPROTECTIVE and SELF-SACRIFICING. her self-worth is at an all time low and she struggles with survivors guilt over her father’s death, but she buries her feelings so as not to inconvenience anyone with her problems and starts up her habit of concealing any negative emotion. eventually, she manages to burst with her father’s blaziken and participates in a few tournaments again, though has severely plummeted in rank. she starts pondering her future and sets her sights on regions outside polina, believing that seeing the world outside her region might be good for her.

AGE 19-PRESENT(21): luka leaves polina to travel the world and figure out what she wants to do with her life. she keeps her identity as a burst warrior a closely guarded secret from any friends she makes, as burst warrior culture is incredibly secretive and she’s afraid of negative reactions. she continues to train with her burst pokemon in secret and only returns home to participate in one tournament because she’s short on money. there are several people that she is considering confiding in about her status as a burst warrior, though she is still too nervous to do so. for white day one year, she receives a TOGEPI EGG from a friend and he becomes her first pokemon. though her start as a pokemon trainer is a rocky one, she’s slowly getting the hang of it and becoming more CONFIDENT in her abilities.
